This is a fixed term/ permanent position with an excellent opportunity to start or further develop your Podiatrist skills within dynamic, forward looking, and innovative departments.NHS services for the half-million people who live in Grampian are provided by NHS Grampian and are overseen by one single NHS Board.NHS Grampian consists of acute services, corporate services and three Integration Joint Boards and works closely with the local authorities. NHS Grampian is also very closely linked with both the University of Aberdeen and The Robert GordonUniversity, especially in the fields of research, workforce planning and training.Main purpose of the job:

  • The Podiatry Service delivers high-quality person-centred care to patients, their carers and the local population via assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to a diverse range of conditions and patient types in a variety of environments, playing a pivotalrole in supporting health improvement and health promotion
  • The post holder will work a generalist clinician, deliver single handily or as part of a team, the highest possible podiatric care to patients in a variety of locations, both palliative and curative, maintaining mobility and foot comfort while liaisingwith other relevant Health and Social Care professionals and other agencies as appropriate
  • The post holder will continue to hold and be responsible for their own general caseload and provide general Podiatry assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and discharge of patients within the General Core Service
  • There may be an expectation to provide services over 7 days, including weekends, public holidays, and extended hours, where required, to meet the need of services
Skills:To apply for this post, you will:
  • Health Care Profession Council Registered Podiatrist with a diploma/degree in Podiatric Medicine
  • Local Anaesthetic Certificate (LA)- LA is a Prescription only Medicine, holders of LA Certificate have the authority to prescribe and administer local anaesthetics.
  • To participate in Appraisal System and CPD, keeping updated on the latest developments and changes in procedure, with the department, organisation, and the profession generally
  • Recognise a clinical emergency and act appropriately e.g., management of anaphylaxis, basic life support
  • Ability to work as part of a university professional or multi-disciplinary team/agency.
  • Ability to collate statistical information and maintain accurate clinical records.
  • Driving licence, car owner or have access to a car
Responsibilities:
  • To utilise the full range of podiatry skills and knowledge, daily with the use evidence-based practice to ensure care aims are easily identified and actioned.
  • To continually assess patient needs, plan, implement, evaluate, and refine generalist programmes of care, which are evidence-based utilising all available resources. Ensuring consideration is given to lifestyle, gender and cultural background, involvementof patients, carers, family members and significant others.
  • To demonstrate knowledge and experience of how treatment plans and episodes of care impact on the physical, mental, or emotional health of patients, colleagues, and clinician. Ensuring consideration is given where there are barriers to understanding i.e.,elderly, children, and mental health concerns
  • As a supported clinician, perform intricate clinical procedures as appropriate to improve or eradicate foot disorders, using specialised podiatric instruments and equipment e.g., Nail Surgery including use of injected local anaesthetic (prescription onlymedicine) and Phenol
  • Be aware of how treatment plans and episodes of care impact on the physical, mental or emotional health of patients, colleagues, and clinician. Ensure consideration is given where there are barriers to understanding and take account of lifestyle, genderand cultural background, involvement of patients, carers, family members and significant others
